I do like the ghost boy! As with so many of your characters, he appears to inhabit a multi-dimensional world, or perhaps other worlds in other dimensions. Perhaps he slips through the fabric of one, into another. It's a fine piece of work.

This brings to mind not only the various superstitions which are a part of traditional African cultures (just as different superstitions are the basis of much of European culture) but also the very real dangers children face there both from natural disasters and man-made ones.
